On Monday 11th February, the High Commission staff had the pleasure of joining Dr. Agnes Binagwaho, Vice Chancellor of the University of Global Health Equity and former Minister of Health for Rwanda, and Dr. Peter Drobac, Director of the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at the Said Business School, at a London screening of ‘Behind the Arc’ – an award-winning documentary that explores how a group of social entrepreneurs (Dr. Paul Farmer, Dr. Jim Yong Kim, activist Ophelia Dahl, Todd McCormack, and investor Thomas White) helped to catalyse a social movement that revolutionised global health.
Following the film, Dr. Binagwaho and Dr Drobac, led a discussion on the film and what it can teach us on creating systemic change. The doctors also took questions from the audience on themes of social entrepreneurship, facing adversity in their mission to help others, and what advice both would give to young people today who wish to make an impact in the world.
