High Commissioner Yamina Karitanyi delivered a keynote address at the launch of the 12th Edition of the Legatum Institute’s Prosperity Index, discussing Rwanda’s perspective and it’s journey from Poverty to Prosperity.
For years, the Legatum Institute’s Prosperity Index has tracked how prosperity has evolved all over the world. In her address, Her Excellency Karitanyi noted that there were 3 key rules that were applied to post-genocide Rwanda, namely; 1. To stay together, 2. To think big, 3. To be accountable.
The High Commissioner also noted that, today, Rwanda ranks 7th most efficient government globally, scores high in the World Bank’s Doing Business reports, has the highest representation of women in parliament in the world (61.5%), women constitute 50% of cabinet and that Rwandans see security organs as a source of public good.
