The Rwandan High Commission is pleased to announce that the below exciting opportunities have arisen to join the High Commission team in London.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:

The High Commission of the Republic of Rwanda to the UK has the responsibility of promoting bilateral relations and co-operation between the governments and the people of the Republic of Rwanda and the United Kingdom, as well as develop good business and investment ties. The High Commission is also accredited to the Republic of Ireland, as Embassy of Rwanda to Ireland.

ROLES

Communications Officer

This is a full-time role, for the duration of 2 years.

The main responsibilities of the Communications officer will include:

  • Proactively work to maintain good relationships with Media contacts, and Communication partners
  • Media outreach to existing media contacts
  • Attending and covering official events
  • Event management and planning working closely with colleagues
  • Timely reporting on activities, managing live dates and deadlines.
  • Drafting and proposing copy, graphics and themes for brand engagement
  • Copywriting for social media, flyers and website stories
  • Providing input and direction on creative pieces (videos, photo-shoots etc)
  • Drafting press releases and web articles
  • Research and fact-checking
  • Managing and updating contact database and communication tools (mailchimp, Eventbrite etc)
  • Managing and update the official website
  • Managing the High Commission’s official social media channels
  • Preparing presentations, talking points and exhibition materials where required
  • Carry out other ad hoc and assigned tasks

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Previous PR, Journalism, Communication experience is ideal
  • Highly developed organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently to ensure projects are managed effectively
  • Competence with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign) desirable
  • Good knowledge of WordPress CMS and managing web databases
  • Mature approach to work and challenges – solution-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

Administrative Assistant

This is a full-time, permanent position (renewable annually).

The main responsibilities of the Admin Assistant will include:

  • Ensure that excellent customer service is provided to the clients. Provide clear information to the clients, help and guide them where necessary
  • Call handling, receiving applications and documents to the Consular office, sorting and distributing incoming mails
  • Responding on a timely basis to all queries that come through the official mission email address
  • Receiving guests to the High Commission
  • Manage the stock levels and procurement of office supplies
  • To undertake all duties related to postages and shipments
  • General support to the team that they may require from time to time
  • Carry out other ad hoc and assigned tasks including assisting in the planning of events, logistics support, assisting in communication activities where required

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent numeracy and communications skills – both written and verbal
  • Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda. French is desirable but not essential
  • Previous administration experience in a busy office environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • A good team player with a pro-active and enthusiastic attitude
  • Mature and confident approach to work and challenges – solution-oriented
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highly developed organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently to ensure projects are managed effectively
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is desirable

Protocol Driver

This is a full-time, permanent position (renewable annually).

The main duties and responsibilities of the Protocol Driver will include:

  • To drive the Head of Mission around London and other parts of the UK
  • Keeping the vehicle cleaned and maintained to a high standard at all times
  • Liaising with other staff and departments in a professional manner to ensure a smooth and effective service is delivered at all times
  • Oversee daily maintenance of the High Commission’s official cars
  • Follow-up on all issues related to Congestion Charge renewals, MOT, Insurance etc
  • Keeping an updated filing system of all the official vehicles
  • Any other duty assigned by the High Commissioner or any senior official designated by the High Commissioner

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive professional experience as a chauffeur (5+ years)
  • VIP chauffeur skills and qualities
  • Exceptional knowledge of driving in London
  • A full, clean UK driver’s licence
  • Previous experience driving Ambassadors/High Commissioner in London desirable.
  • Good communications skills – both written and verbal (English)
  • First-Aid trained desirable but not essential
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work
